It is 100% compatible with existing systems that use BMP085, using the same interfaces to connect with your microcontroller and the same code that worked with BMP085 will work with BMP180. The BMP180 can measure between 300 to 1100hpa with an accuracy of about 0.02hPA in high-resolution mode.
